Upper Mustang Trekking

Upper Mustang or Lo Manthang was known as the Hidden Kingdom till 1950. Upper Mustang is a rain shadow area. It is windy and dusty throughout the year. Trekking to upper Mustang is like trekking in Tibet. The highest land elevation is 3800m. but the condition is hard. During the winter, people migrate to the south down to Pokhara. Mustang trek requires a minimum of ten days time and the group should be self-sufficient. There are small settlements of Tibetan origin people in the fertile bank of Kaligandaki river. Lo manthang has its own social system. The head is the king and his order is acceptable to all. The settlement is inside a big compound wall where the king and other people live together. Lo Manthang is a hidden part of the world that every aspect inside the compound is new and wonderful to the visitors.
